Born in Leicester in 1973, Paul Wright's career began in illustration, in which subject he gained a Bachelor of Fine Arts.

He transitioned to oil painting and developed a unique style of broad expressive brushstrokes, using his great draughtmanship and sense of colour he has had major success in his solo exhibitions within the UK. He has also received recognition from the BP National Portrait Award.
